Star of Outstanding
In 2024, the CIE–HeritageLab platform was named one of ten Stars of Outstanding in the Global Awards for World Heritage Education Innovative Cases.
The award is presented by the World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region (WHITRAP), a UNESCO Category 2 centre. The winners were announced at WHITRAP’s side event during the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee in New Delhi, India.
The recognition highlighted HeritageLab as an innovative model connecting heritage, communities and students across disciplines.

CIE launched HeritageLab with international partners and heritage communities as a shared platform for academics, artists and heritage professionals.
HeritageLab gives space to forgotten and neglected narratives, connects heritage landscapes across oceans and seas, and works with marginalised communities to build the skills needed to unlock, document and celebrate heritage and collective memory.
